"The earth has music for those who listen." Shakespeare
During the school year I will find and post various links to subjects
that the students have discussed in their music classes. Some posts are
more entertaining than informative. This section will be updated
frequently, so if you find a favorite link, you might want to bookmark
it. These links are an assortment of pages I have found on the internet,
and they will not be sorted by age. Most are appropriate for students
who can read (grades one to six). I hope you find these pages helpful or
just plain fun.
This is a video that I created using pictures I found on the web. The file is rather large, so
students should get permission before they download. To download, simply
right-click the above title and select "save target as." To
view, simply left-click the above title and select open. To stop, press
your escape button (Esc). The file is approximately 4.02 MB. The text represents an adaptation of
the North Daviess Cougar fight song and includes dozens of pictures of
the fearsome cougar.
Recently, I have heard on the radio news about the positive effects of
exercising to music. Studies have also shown that "listening to music
may influence cognitive function through different pathways in the
brain." A few years ago studies proved that learning to play an
instrument helped students achieve higher scores on their SATs. This
resulted in a large increase in sales of Baby
Genius-types of CDs. Here are some links to explore the role that music
can play in boosting brainpower.
